Details of the Event and How to Register your Garden

The Open Gardens Event

To celebrate The Werrington Show’s 75th Annual Show in 2024, we are running Werrington’s first ever Open Gardens event. Werrington has a wealth of wonderful gardens, some of which we hope to showcase to the public, with the help of their wonderful owners. It’s a fantastic opportunity to share gardens tips and ideas.

There will also be an archive display about the Show to view at The Village Centre.

When: Saturday 25th May, 2024, 10am to 5pm

Where: across Werrington, north Peterborough

Entry: entry to the gardens is strictly by ticket. Tickets can be obtained on the day from Werrington Parish Village Centre, Church Street, Werrington, PE4 6QE between 10am and 4pm. Tickets cost £3 per adult and accompanied U16s are free. A map detailing garden locations will be provided with purchased tickets.

Refreshments: Cream teas and cakes will be available in The Village Centre

Toilets: Toilets will be available in The Village Centre between 10am and 4pm

Plant Sales: There will be the opportunity to purchase plants at The Village Centre and from individual participating gardens

Children: There will be a children’s trail / competition for the children to enjoy

Dogs: Gardens that welcome dogs on leads will be indicated on the garden locations map

Access: We want as many people as possible to enjoy the gardens. We will provide an access statement prior to the event so that you can plan your visit. The garden locations map will also provide guidance on garden accessibility

Photos: we’d love to see your photos of the event – please send them to our Facebook page – please, however, be mindful to respect the privacy of the garden owners and their properties

Funds: Money raised from this event will go to support The Werrington Show and its annual show

How to register your garden for Werrington Open Gardens

On-line Garden Registration Form

Whether your garden is big or small, a formal garden or a nature friendly garden, mainly flowers or a vegetable patch we’d love to welcome you to register your garden with us. It is a fantastic opportunity for you to share your garden with like-minded people and by doing so help support a local community orientated group.

How do I register my garden? Simply complete our on-line registration form or contact us at werringtonshow@hotmail.co.uk for a form. You will be asked for your contact details, details regarding your garden and other preferences. After you have registered you will receive a receipt and nearer the date of the event, we will contact you to finalise details

When is the deadline for registering a garden? Midnight, Sunday 12th May 2024

Does it cost to register my garden? No, it is free to register your garden

What about security? Entry to your garden will be by ticket only. The address of your property will only be made available to people who have bought a ticket. We advise that someone remains on your property at all times and that both your front and back doors are locked for this period too.

What if something happens to a member of the public during a visit? If it is a medical emergency, please dial 999. For other incidences please contact us, details will be provided to you once you have registered. The Werrington Show’s Public Liability Insurance covers this event

I don’t want dogs in my garden? On the registration form you will be able to tell us if you would or would not welcome dogs on leads in your garden.

Can I sell plants? Yes, you are welcome to sell plants at your property. The Werrington Show will also be selling plants at The Village Centre to raise funds. If you have any spare plants or seedlings to donate, they would be most gratefully received.

Do I have to do anything on the day? You will be asked to display a poster outside your property to indicate that you are part of Werrington Open Gardens. The poster will also indicate access details and preferences
